A history of a son and his father
This is the history of a son and his father. One day, the son told his father: "I would like to run a marathon, would you do it with me?", and he said yes. Later, the son asked his father again for a marathon and they run it together. Finally, the son wanted to run an Ironman thriatlon and his father said yes! I just want to remind you that an Ironman consist in a race composed by 2.4 miles swimming, 180Km biking and a marathon running!! It is one of the most beautiful things that I ever seen in internet, just be prepared to cry!

Dan Osman vs Huber brothers: climbing beyond the limit!
A great and spectacular video by the crazy Dan Osman has always been the top climbing video in youtube. In it, Dan climbs 100m without rope in less than 4min30sec minutes. Spectacular but it is just a 5.7!! In european rate it is a 4+, what means that even me can climb that wall without rope! One thing it's true, it will take me an hour. Here there's the video:
On the other hand, there's the last Huber's brother record in el capitan (yosemite). They set the world speed climbing record of the Nose in 2h45min45sec. The Nose is a multi-pitch route with a some difficult pitches, the hardest, a 13.a (8a in european). As they explained the easy pitches were climbed without rope and only the hardest ones were belayed. The goal, be the fastest! Am Limit is the film which shows the best moments of this experience. Here's the trailer:
Besides the fact that Dan Osman was incredible, by its difficulty and velocity, Huber's exploit is the best that we can find in the net. Enjoy the videos!

OnLive : Video Games next generation?
The current expensive consoles like PlayStation, Xbox, Wii and others could be simply replace by OnLive. OnLive is a new video games on demand service that may just change the way you play PC games. Actually, it is like the films that you watch in the net by streaming but for video games. You will have an account to OnLive that will allow your access to their server. From the server you will be able to play to any game stored. No more consoles at home, no more CD's games and, thanks god, no more old nintendo's cartridges!!! All replaced by a little device of 10$ and a monthly subscribtion fee (10$).
There are no downloads, it's streaming gaming. OnLive promises to stream games live, over the Internet, with no lag. Let me say that again: No lag. How are they able to assure that level of flux data without lag? The inventor, Steve Perlman, (the guy who created WebTV and sold it for a cool $500 million to Microsoft) assure that they have developped, through 7 years, a system of data compression that makes this technology possible!
If true, OnLive could be the holy grail of gaming. It lets publishers give the finger to GameStop and other retailers, and distribute their games directly to consumers. It would eliminate piracy. And it makes the console war a moot point.

ABC: That's the clue!
Last week, pope Benedictus XVI made a polemic declaration about the use of condoms. He said that condoms are not a solution Aids problem, actually they are a part of the problem.The whole community has react against these declarations. The "courrier international", a serious and objective french journal whose content is formed by pieces of news from different newspapers all around the world, has publish a polemic first page on this week number.
Inside they remember the pope the ABC strategy which is followed by a huge part of the catholic community. A for Abstinence, B for Be faithful and C for Condom. This three elements together can finish with Aids in Africa and all over the world. It's Utopian to think that the abstinence and the faith in god will solve the problem, we are talking about Africa, a different continent, several cultures and, obviously, in the XXI century we cannot, the WEC (white European Catholics), think about a second colonisation as we did with South America.

In April 2006, Abu Dhabi took a bold and historic decision to embrace renewable and sustainable energy technologies.
As the first major hydrocarbon-producing nation to take such a step, it has established its leadership position by launching Masdar, a global cooperative platform for open engagement in the search for solutions to some of mankind's most pressing issues: energy security, climate change and truly sustainable human development.
If the major producer of solid-based fuel has decided to invest in green energies maybe it should be the moment for everybody to become conscious of the necessity of a change in our mentality. Don't let it for tomorrow, start now being green!

Carnavale Historico d'Ivrea: Oranges fight
Are they crazy? Are these italians out of their mind? Not at all, they are celebrating the "carnavale"!!! I say there’s nothing like a good food fight to make you feel like one of the locals, and the town of Ivrea in the North of Italy seems to agree. Every year in late February, residents of Ivrea take part in a carnival tradition which has been dubbed the “Battle of the Oranges” - and with good reason; for three consecutive days of the Carnevale d’Ivrea, they use oranges as weapons in a citrus-scented war in the city center.
But what does it represent? Let just step back a "few" years:
Back in the 12th century, the then-duke of the area had instituted a “tradition” in which he was to be allowed to spend one night with each newly married woman in his domain. Clearly, some people just went along with this out of fear of
reprisal, but legend says that one young woman called Violetta wasn’t about to sleep with the duke - and instead of just refusing him, she chopped off his head. Her act sparked a revolution in the town of the downtrodden against their oppressive rulers, and to this day she is remembered and revered as a symbol of freedom.
Fast-forward to the early 1800s, when the traditional carnival activities that each city district celebrated separately were combined into one city-wide celebration under Napoleon, who ruled the region at the time. After the area was returned to Italian rule, the Carnevale d’Ivrea continued as one big festival in the city, including all of the various districts at once. The townsfolk dressed up in period costume, as they still do today, and reenacted specific elements from the 12th century revolt.
Perhaps not surprisingly, the Battle of the Oranges is actually a relatively recent addition to the Carnevale d’Ivrea celebrations. The orange itself is meant to symbolize the decapitated duke’s head after Violetta lobbed it off, and apparently they used beans and apples before switching to oranges at some point in the early 20th century (the exact timeline of things is more than a little unclear). What is clear is that the townsfolk are divided into nine orange-throwing teams on foot and a few more teams which are above the crowd in carriages. The teams in the carriages, who all wear enormous helmets in addition to other protective gear, are meant to represent the army of the oppressive feudal overlords, while the participants on the ground are the ordinary citizens who are trying to rebel. The folks on the ground wear some protective gear, but no helmets. Everyone involved is in costume. I swear that an orange is really painful, I got one on my head. However the most impressive was a guy in a carriages crying of pain, that was whou!

Buy Nothing Day
Buy Nothing Day is an international day of protest against consumerism observed by social activist. Typically celebrated the Friday after American Thanksgiving in North America and the following day internationally, in 2008 the dates were November 28 and 29 respectively.
This year, a stampede of furious consumers, in the first day of sales in New York city, caused the death of the person who was opening the door of Wal-Mart. The man, 34 years old, appeard dead by the crowd at 5am after being trampled by thousand of people. Today, while the world is under the worst crisis ever seen since 1929, events like that shoud emphasize the importance of demonstrations like the Buy Nothing Day.
Critics of the day charge that Buy Nothing Day simply causes participants to buy the next day, Adbusters states that it "isn't just about changing your habits for one day" but "about starting a lasting lifestyle commitment to consuming less and producing less waste. Unless we decrease our level of consumption in order to have a sustainable style of life, the death of the society as we know will be an irremediable fact.
